We are in awe of what God has done in and through our church while we have met at JF High School. At the same time, we know that God wants to do so much more. A 24/7 ministry space becomes the hub for more lives transformed, more families restored, more leaders developed, and more community being cultivated. God has miraculously made a way for us to purchase 43 acres that we believe will become the place for our permanent home. See building.brentwoodchurch.org for more details on this. Also, in the possible, yet unlikely event that our agreement with JF High School is not renewed, the current scale of our church would not have a place to gather.
The longer we wait to build a permanent facility, the greater the cost. Plus, God has given our leadership the vision to move from a portable location to a permanent, 24/7 ministry space.
We broke ground on July 15 and we will begin clearing out the trees soon! Construction will begin as soon as the trees are cleared.
The land was previously purchased with cash. The $9.4-million covers all site work, building construction cost, and necessary fixtures for a 76K square foot building. However, to reduce the overall cost, A/V equipment and furniture are excluded from this amount. Instead, current portable equipment will be repurposed and used.
The timeline or building approach must be adjusted if the financial goal is not reached. Specifically, it will either take longer to complete the building or planned sections will have to be delayed or dropped altogether.
The Biblical tithe is a practice of giving the first 10% of your regular income directly to your local church, which is necessary to fuel the current vision, goals, and operations of the congregation (ex. compassion efforts, ministries, rent, equipment, staff salaries, etc.). Regularly giving must continue for the church to operate progressively. To grow and build a building, however, new giving and new givers must begin, so the necessary capital can be raised to start building.

During the 2016 Waymaker journey, the money raised went to four key areas: Grow, Build, Seed, Foster. Regarding "Build," Waymaker allowed us to pay cash for the 43- acres of land, as well as hire a consultant to size out a building to meet our present and future needs. A consultant also helped us estimate how much our church could raise in a building capital campaign.
Brentwood is led by three senior teams that are chaired by the lead pastor—elders, stewardship, and executive—and each has different roles regarding financial management. The executive team, which are paid staff members, builds the annual budget and manages day-to-day financial operations. The stewardship team, made up of qualified volunteers, oversees the regular financial reporting and advises the staff leadership on all financial matters. The elder team—also made up of qualified volunteers—gives the final review and approval of the annual budget. They also work in conjunction with the stewardship team to decide whether the church should take on capital debt. For more information on the different roles go to brentwoodchurch.org/aboutus/ourbeliefs/bylaws.
100% of the funds will go towards the actual Hooper Road building and the cost of raising the funds for the building.
We hired a consultant that helped us determine a size that not only meets our current needs but also allows us to grow. Our desire is to build something that meets our current and future needs.
We will be able to begin the building project when we receive the funds that have been pledged to Building Brentwood or when we receive a gap loan for the pledges. Because of this, the timeline will vary.
You can begin giving as early as today. The sooner commitment money comes in, the quicker we are able to begin to build. It is a 3-year commitment and different people will give either weekly, monthly, yearly or in a one-time gift.
This phrase is a slogan that parallels to the Israelites from the book of Joshua. God called Joshua and Israel to start building a new nation within a Promised Land. But first, He wanted to build them as a people, and move them from wanderers to warriors. God mandated in Joshua 1:9: “…be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” God had a clear future for the Israelites, a permanent home for them to flourish and build His Kingdom. But it required them to move from wanderers and become warriors to take the land He had for them. God has said the same thing to us. Through the wandering, God has done miraculous things in and through our church, but God has much more in store for us.
That’s why building Brentwood is so much more than putting up a building; it’s about us building lives, families, leaders, and communities. We are joining together as we move from wanderers, in temporary spaces, to warriors that are taking back enemy territory and building Brentwood.
The "X" symbolizes that God has “so much more” in store for Brentwood Church. It’s more than just a building; it’s about building lives, leaders, families, and communities. The "X" is the symbol for the 4 major actions.
